Serving as Chief Investment Officer of Kingsbarn Capital Management, Mr. Fowler brings over 20 years of experience in the private and public debt and equity capital markets to Kingsbarn. Prior to joining Kingsbarn, Jim held executive management positions at three publicly listed financial services companies.

Mr. Fowler was a 20-year senior partner at JMP Group (NYSE: JMP), a 185-person San Francisco-based investment banking and asset management firm that sold to Citizens Financial Group (NYSE: CFG) in November 2021. Jim spent the first ten years of his tenure at JMP as a senior equity research analyst and Co-Director of Equity Research covering mortgage finance and specialty finance companies. During his second decade at JMP, Jim co-managed a financial services-focused equity hedge fund and managed a credit fund providing senior and junior debt to lower middle market companies. Concurrent to managing the portfolios, Jim held executive positions at two JMP-sponsored publicly listed companies: Chairman of the Board of Directors of New York Mortgage Trust (NASD: NYMT) and Chief Investment Officer for Harvest Capital Credit (NASD: HCAP).
